Walk for a cause

April 13, 2013 at Stinson Park in Aksarben Village at 9am, will be the annual MS Walk.

Jeff and I will be walking for this great cause.  Please consider donating to this great cause. Link

Thank you!

As some of you know, my wife Dawn has MS. Its something which affects our lives every day weather we want it to or not. MS affects each person differently so its possible no 2 people would have the exact same symptoms. Thats why its important for organizations like the MS Society. I'm fund raising for the Omaha MS Walk coming up in April. If you can spare a few bucks, please visit the link below. Thank You!

Droid on ice

My husband went out to help the Omaha Lancers celebrate their Star Wars night on February 23, 2013.  He was super excited because the Lancer's asked him if R2-TD would be willing to race a kid on the ice during half time.  I believe TD won!!

Well, with our new vehicle we have figured out that TD does not fit as well in the SUV as it did in the van.   So we improvised and TD needed to be disassembled.  Jeff said that if I had went with him, we would have been really cramped in the car.  It may be time for a trailer hitch and a small trailer.

Oh, go jump in a lake!

My husband is big on charities.  For the second year in a row, he has willingly volunteered to jump into a frozen lake in the middle of February for a good cause.

This year, the 501st, which he is a member of, joined him in raising money for Nebraska Special Olympics.

Jeff and his team were able to raised $1025.00 for this great cause.

Marcus Pelegrimas

Whenever I find a local author especially in a genre I LOVE (horror)  I try to get a hold of their books.

Marcus Pelegrimas is a local author here in Omaha Ne,  by his own words “Yes, he eats corn, No, he doesn’t live on a farm.(check out his page here)”   Marcus is also a member of the Nevermore Paranormal ghost hunting group.(check them out here)

I will say I was a little taken aback at the first couple of reviews I read, but I bought the book anyways. Once I started reading the 1st book, I realized that people seemed to be upset because this was not your typical Vampire, Werewolf book.  This is not a love story intertwined with a vampire book, and no sparkling Vampires.  Basically, this isn’t your mother’s or baby sister’s type of book.    If that is what you’re looking for then check out Sherrilyn Kenyon or the Twilight Series.  But if you are true diehard when it comes to horror, I implore you to check him out.

“Bram Stroker of the 21st Century “– Paul Goat Allen

His 1st Skinners book ‘Blood Blade’ starts out by introducing you to Cole (a game developer, off onto a much need vacation on British Columbia) and Paige (a skinner).  Basically, Cole is being pursued through the woods by werewolves.  Once Cole is saved and back in the US he realizes that what he thought was imaginary or make believe is actually all true and there are “fighters” out there called Skinners.  Now Cole believes that he too can help in controlling this new world he has come to know.
From almost the beginning of this 1st book you are mesmerized and you can’t wait to see what will happen next.  These are fast paced books which left me breathless and wanting more.  So imagine my joy to discover his new book ‘Extinction Agenda’ will be out October 25th, if you are already a reader make sure to pre-order your book today on Amazon.com here. Also, if you want to check out the first chapter of Blood Blade; click here  If not, get over there a get his 1st book and start reading. (PS. I even provided a list for you.)   ~~~HAPPY READING~~~

Chicken Pasta Marinara

Besides Sci-fi another hobby my husband and I LOVE is cooking.  We love to just throw something together. So, we usually do not have measurements, so I will do the best I can. :) Usually we fix a full meal on Sundays, but since today was a work Holiday for us, I decided to just cook today.  My husband would pick chicken over most any meat (that I am willing to cook).  So tonight we are having Chicken Pasta Marinara.

This is a super easy recipe:

Boneless Skinless Chicken (I used 3)
Pasta (used 1 pkg of wheat)
Pasta Sauce (used 1 can)
Shredded Cheese (used about 1 1/2 cups)
Bread Crumbs (used about a cup)
4 Eggs
Garlic Powder (to taste)
Onion Powder (to taste)
Pepper (to taste)
Preheat over to 350 degrees

As I stated above we very rarely measure anything and use sight and taste to make most of our meals.

To Prepare:
-Mix bread crumbs, garlic and onion powder and pepper to taste. (set aside)
-Put eggs in a separate bowl and whisk.
-Rinse off chicken and remove any fat.
-Dip chicken in eggs and then bread crumbs and lay in pan.
-Place chicken in 350 degree oven for 30 minutes.
-Start cooking pasta (per package instructions)
-Once chicken has been cooking for about 20 minutes, pull out and top with Pasta Sauce and Shredded Cheese.
-Place back into oven to finish.

Serve chicken on top of spaghetti and enjoy with some garlic bread and salad.

We hope you enjoy this recipe as much as us.

OMG!!!! It's Contagious!!

My husband and I are in the process of redecorating some rooms.   We already did the bathroom 6 years ago and I figured it was time to move on..LOL.  So, we have been working on the guest bedroom, which will now be our bedroom.  I am mad we forgot to take a "before" picture, but oh well.  I also worked on the pantry downstairs and am really happy with it.  While I was putting some clothes away my husband started laughing at me because of all the geeky t-shirts I have.  I know I would not usually purchase these items, but I really think geekiness is contagious and I am really not interested in a cure. :)

WOW Hello

Seriously, how long has it been since I actually posted here?

So really not a whole lot has happened since then, it seems the geekiness (is this a real word) has taken a back seat to actual living.  So, it has been pretty boring.

We actually got one of the bedrooms painted and will be starting on the basement.  Jeff wants a "Man Cave" and we are in the planning stages.  He has been looking at all sorts of  "Caves" for ideas.  We are contemplating what we want down there.  (notice I said "WE" :) )

Ultimately, it will be his decision (Jeff, notice I put this in writting).

I will be painting the pantry this weekend because I am tired of the brown wood.  I was going to just use shelf paper, but why go out and spend money when we have paint laying around.   We actually only spent $7 on a gallon of paint for the bedroom and this paint will be free since we already had it.  Okay enough frugalness from me.
