The Immortal Lost

No geeky news to report...so I decided to write about a book I just finished.

I just read the book The Immortal Lost by H.R. Phillips.  I picked this book up at the Contagion Convention in June.  My hopes for this book were high and I could not wait to dig in.  Throughout the book there were highs and lows.  I would compare the authors writing to Kings in the sense that she uses a lot of the book (the first 9 chapters) to introduce the characters.  I appreciate books that can give me a background on the individuals, but sometimes it gets old.  As the actions gets started the book comes to an end and my expectation of the book are thwarted.  As Dylan (the main character) was realizing her life's calling...etc,  and the evil was approaching we are left sitting there asking ourselves "WHAT!!"  I was a little disappointed in how the book ended with the loose ends just hanging there, but I will definitely be purchasing the next book, just so I know what happens.  I do hope the author, H.R. Phillips will bring some closure in the next book.

All in all I will give this book a 8 Stars out of 10, due to the interesting plot line.

Once a dream, now a reality

About 7 years ago, a couple of friends were talking about how great it would be to have a large Pop Culture Convention here is Omaha.  Today is the beginning of that dream.  After 3 years of planning, frustration, and stress it is finally coming to truism.

Contagion outbreak  http://www.contagionoutbreak.com/ is finally here, with the joy and happiness of all involved.  Today is the set up phase, with vendors and artists coming in.  Today is just the beginning and I am sure there will still be nerves and excitement throughout the weekend.  With time permitting I will try and keep the blog updated throughout.

What have you done with my husband?

First I can tell its almost time for the Contagion Convention because I have seen very little of my husband since he started his vacation on Friday, but that is alright...that tells me stuff is getting taken care of and I know this is going to be successful.  So, since I am missing him, I thought I would post some pics of my sweety.  But while I was searching I started noticing something.....  This is the man I married (see below)

But this is what I have been living with for 7 years.... :)

Need I go on...oh wait I almost forgot the very best....enjoy!!!

Where's the Action Figures?

I know its been a while since I posted, but its been pretty hectic around here lately.  We are trying to get the house in order and the guest room put back together for some of our dear friends who are coming to visit in June.  Plus with all the Contagion Outbreak stuff going on...we never know which way is up.  (check them out if you haven't yet.) http://www.contagionoutbreak.com/

So with all the craziness going on, image my surprise when Jeff tells me he is selling his Star Wars stuff.  I was like "WHAT!!!!, are you sure?"  He said he isn't really doing anything with it and its just sitting in our basement collecting dust.  He figured he might as well sell it and let someone else enjoy it.  That lucky dog had a hit within a day.  He found someone who was specifically looking to buy Star Wars items, the guy is an E-Bay seller and is just going to turn around and resell the figures, but oh well.  (Wish I knew is screen name, I would go stalk his postings. :)  )

My mission this year was to clear out some stuff from the house and I guess Jeff is on board with that.  I really hope he will not regret it later, but I am happy to be able to finally get some stuff out of the house.  Now what's next???

Kansas City Trip

WOW!!  What a crazy weekend!  Jeff and I went off to KC for Planet Comic Con.  This is my 2nd year and I believe Jeff’s 4th.  If you are into comics this is the place to be!  But, they do have other things as well. Jeff and his band of Contagion members made the trek to promote Contagion Outbreak.  We met up with some of the 501st and The Rebel Legion as well as got to see Iron Man and War Machine.  Can I just say WOW!!!   The picture that I got does not do justice to the size and presence of these guys.

Jeff and Matt's Radio Interview

We also got to meet Michael McMillian who plays Steve Newlin (the preacher from True Blood) and Daniel Logan who plays the young Boba Fett from Star Wars.
Rebel Legion
These guys are super cool and nice as hell.  My geekiness totally showed and came out when we got to meet Lindsay Wagner who was the original BIONIC WOMAN.  The only thing better would have been Lynda Carter who played Wonder Woman!!  I totally froze up and didn’t know what to say or do, but Jeff helped me out, thank goodness. J  She is amazing and one of the nicest people you will meet.  Got an autograph and a personal picture with her.  WOW WOW WOW!!  LOL.  J

Jeff and I have been to KC multiple times, but we never took the time to try their BBQ.  But this trip one of our friends took us to a place called Gates.  It was very good.  It was a little spicy for my liking, but it was still good.  The restaurant was crazy inside…think “The Soup Nazi” from Seinfeld.  The ladies were yelling and even sent someone out to the line to give instructions on what we needed to do.  We just followed our friends lead and ordered what they did.  LOL!!  Our next trip we are going to try Oklahoma Joes.  We were told this is one of the 13 places to eat before you die.  I guess it's some place inside a gas station, but I have learned that these are the best places to eat.  I always try to find some “hole in the wall” restaurant when we go out of town.  We also got the best treat ever when our friends from Topeka drove down and treated Jeff and I to lunch as Kolache’s Factory.  If you have never been there think small Runza’s stuffed with various types of food.  OMG it was sooooo good.   I will definitely be putting this on my list of places to stop at again.  Unfortunately, we did not get the opportunity to go to Chick-fil-a but I am sure we will have other chances.

All in all this was a great time, I am so tired and happy to be home and able to rest one more day.
